All aboard the big gay bus, students. It’s time to go to Gender Deidentification Class.

A curriculum called “Welcoming Schools,” promoted as an anti-bullying program, is being piloted in some metro-area schools. The curriculum, developed by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest gay and lesbian organization, has less to do with bullying and far more to do with dismantling gender roles and promoting homosexuality to grade-school students.

Students enrolled in kindergarten through third grade will study words like “gay and lesbian” subsequent grades will be taught words like “dyke,” and “bisexual.”

HRC states the mission of the “anti-bullying” program is “creating LGBT-inclusive elementary schools that support and include all children.” LGBT stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender. Bisexual and transgender grade-schoolers?

At the center of HRC’s curriculum is the Welcoming Schools guide which, according to their website, offers teaching tools, resources and lessons on family diversity and gender stereotyping. “Pressure to conform to traditional gender roles can limit students' social and academic development,” states HRC’s promotional material.

Children in kindergarten through second grade will participate in excercises that require them to close their eyes, imagine that they are the opposite sex, and decide what things they would or would not still like and what new things they might like if they were a different gender. Teachers are encouraged to stop addressing students as either boys or girls. Suggested course books for this age-group include Oliver Button is a Sissy (about a boy who likes to play dress-up and tap-dances), a Fire Engine for Ruthie (about a girl who wants a firetruck instead of dolls by the author of The Boy Who Cried Fabulous), Sissy Duckling (a story about a male duckling who prefers dress-up and baking to baseball and likes to wear pink and flower prints) and The Different Dragon (a bedtime story about the imagined adventures of a child with two moms).

Older kids will be treated to King and King (a book about a prince who proposes to and marries another prince), and a rigged excersize wherein students are given a set of pictures of kids and adults and told to arrange them into seven familes. The trick is, it’s impossible to arrange all the photos into traditional familes. Because of the pictures provided, some of the familes will have to wind up with two adults of the same gender.

Students will be evaluated on their views after lessons. Part of that evaluation is fill-in the blank exercise, “I used to think… But now I know…” Indoctrination complete.

Jesus Welcomes the Outcast    By The Rev. Paul N Read, LMFT on 5/19/2008
Take a deep breath everybody! It's all about GRACE! Your children CANNOT be "indoctrinated" into homosexuality. They can only be encouraged to accept all of God's beloved children -- straight and gay alike.

In my ministry, I've met many conservative Christian kids from families that thought it would never happen to them, who realized one day that they were gay/lesbian. They DID NOT CHOOSE IT. They were not lured into it. They were not brainwashed or indoctrinated. In fact, they tried EVERYTHING -- YES EVERYTHING (I AM A PASTOR, SO I MEAN EVERYTHING) NOT TO BE GAY/LESBIAN short of suicide. Sometimes, their families, after their own struggles, were able to embrace them. More often not. And Jesus wept.

I do not believe this will change many, if any, opinions. I really don't even believe it will make it to the comments section. But as children of God and sisters and brothers of the Crucified and Risen One, we are called to be merciful, loving and welcoming of the outcast just as we have been received in love, mercy and welcome. God be with you all.

It's not just the Gay - It's the Way.    By dan.mcgrath on 5/21/2008
Respectfully, Reverend, I don't think you have examined this course material, or you misunderstand the purpose of this article. Welcoming, loving and treating homosexuals with respect is the Christian way, but using deception to teach kids something contrary to the values their parents instilled in them is despicable, whether it has the desired effect or not. Indoctrination exercises such as are included in Welcoming Schools are tools reminiscent of Hitler Youth and Soviet "re-education." This kind of brainwashing has no place in our schools.

Re: "I Used to Think... But Now I Know..." - Homosexual Indoctrination in Public Schools    By Barb on 5/21/2008
And with all due respect reverend, the "act of sex" is a choice, whether hetero or homo. With every choice there is room for influence, manipulation, indoctrination. Children's upbringing is the parents' job, not the public schools.
At times I hear people insist that "the act of sex" is a necessity to survive. This is FALSE. Ask any priest who is true to his vow. Procreation is the necessity for survival of the human race. Human desire carried out is CHOICE... and true believers in God do not force their choices upon others.
Brainwashing in public schools is perpetrated by personal agendas and NOT FACTS. Public school children deserve FACTS. And taxpayers deserve RESULTS based on facts of STANDARD EDUCATION and to include mandatory knowledge of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence which, along with good parenting, builds character and respect. Stop the waste of public tax dollars going to government's personal agendas.
As far as bullying, if kids are not going to comply with the rules of schools, parents are notified and take responsibility and the child is disciplined. Enforce the rules that exist and stop removing parental responsibility.

Did you know that estrogen from birth control and "morning after" pills is causing male fish across America to develop female sex organs? Funny how "pro-choice" and "environmentalist" liberals never talk about that. Or how about this: the Live Earth concert to "save the planet" released more CO2 into the atmosphere than a fleet of 2,000 Humvees emit in a year? We hear a lot about AIDS in Africa, but the number one killer of children in much of Africa is malaria--and guess who was responsible for banning the pesticide that used to have malaria under control? Iain Murray, a sprightly environmental analyst with a long record of skewering liberal hypocrisy, has dug up seven of the all-time great environmental catastrophes caused by the Left and exposed them in The Really Inconvenient Truths.

Founder's Quote of the Week

"Men of energy of character must have enemies; because there are two sides to every question, and taking one with decision, and acting on it with effect, those who take the other will of course be hostile in proportion as they feel that effect."
