All seven metro counties have now weighed in on the new transit tax and it appears that sales and excise taxes will be increasing in five of the metro counties.  Here's the run-down on the voting by county:

Seven County Map

The new sales and vehicle taxes tax will go into effect on July 1st in affected counties.

A summary of the voting record together with each commissioners' contact information can be found here.

Re: Carver and Scott Counties Reject Transit Tax    By Thanks to the Scott County Commissioners!!!!! on 3/27/2008
If you live in Scott County please send a note to the commissioner representing your district and thank them for refusing to even acknowledge the proposed tax increase.

Good to see Carver County has also sent a message that higher taxes are unacceptable.

Stafford is defintely voting for the tax increase. Hegberg is too, but is up for re-election this fall, so he is the one to focus on.

Re: Carver and Scott Only Counties to Reject Metro Area Transit Tax Increase    By Thank you Mr. Bennet on 4/3/2008
I called and e-mailed Mcdonough from Ramsey county personally with no response from him. Ramsey county is getting paid to do the opposite of what the law abiding taxpayers want and expect. Thanks Mr. _ _ _ _ _ _ _. Incompetence gets fired in the real world. Personal and grateful appreciation to Mr. Bennet who will be getting our vote if he so chooses. Sense and logic are key principles which is unusual due to today's corruption of government but greatly appreciated when recognized.

Re: Carver and Scott Only Counties to Reject Metro Area Transit Tax Increase    By YOUR DUTY on 4/4/2008
It is up to us to take control of our elected officials. This blatent abuse of office is outrageous. Please contact your elected district officials and tell them how appalled you are at the recent approvals of the tax increases. Also, do not forget to thank those who voted no even in the districts that did accept the increase. Those who listen to their people need our appreciation - they cannot do it without us. We need to pay attention to all of our officials and keep those that fight for our rights in office and those that only further their own greed out on their rear ends.

Please, do your duty as a citizen and get out to vote. The presidential race is not the only vote taking place. There are constant elections - from school boards, to community boards, to mayoral elections - get your voice heard and use your right to vote! We need more conservatives in all areas of the State!

I will be letting Toni Carter from Ramsey county know exactly what myself and a VERY high number of voters in the district think of her decision to raise taxes once again. As in the past, I'm sure I will get no response from her or any of these arrogant jerks who continue to approve tax increases without knowing the consequences on the hard working responsible families. Of course if you commend them on anything, they will respond to you quite promptly. We all have to bond together and start voting all of these career, self promoting, self serving politicians out so they have to live in our private sector and see how much they like it-------There, now I am done ranting!!!!

I want to thank the officials in Scott County for not only responding to my family's emails but to have sent us an official letter showing denial of such a foolish way to spend monies that just is not necessary in our county.

I wish the other counties would follow this example of true concern for their county and the people that live there.

Great job to the officials in Carver and Scott Counties for their responsible spending!!!

Scott County will be the Ghetto of the Twin Cities metro area when oil hits $300 a barrel. Once it does they will be scrambling towards a transit future. But other counties will remember their uncooperative history. They MIGHT build LRT to Shakopee, but that will be it. And people wonder why I moved to Minneapolis from Prior Lake? Anti-taxers, racists, and homophobics are not my idea of an area progressing.

How about a multipartsan debate on energy? http://multipartisan.blogspot.com

Why do racism and homophobia need to be injected into a discussion of transit taxes?

Kevin C. obviously needs to stick to the issue at hand and maybe do his venting on his other issues on one of the liberal sites that cater to these other issues (THEY ARE NOT HARD TO FIND!!). Myself, I am still out on my soap box in my neighborhood (I live 2 blocks off of University in the Midway) stressing the numerous negative issues that the proposed Central Corridor will cause in addition to the cost and obviously the cost to the taxpayers, but I am in the minority as a conservative in this neighborhood so it is a uphill battle (and yes I am white, my wife is black, my children are bi-racial and we have gay friends if it did matter).

Did you know that estrogen from birth control and "morning after" pills is causing male fish across America to develop female sex organs? Funny how "pro-choice" and "environmentalist" liberals never talk about that. Or how about this: the Live Earth concert to "save the planet" released more CO2 into the atmosphere than a fleet of 2,000 Humvees emit in a year? We hear a lot about AIDS in Africa, but the number one killer of children in much of Africa is malaria--and guess who was responsible for banning the pesticide that used to have malaria under control? Iain Murray, a sprightly environmental analyst with a long record of skewering liberal hypocrisy, has dug up seven of the all-time great environmental catastrophes caused by the Left and exposed them in The Really Inconvenient Truths.

"Men of energy of character must have enemies; because there are two sides to every question, and taking one with decision, and acting on it with effect, those who take the other will of course be hostile in proportion as they feel that effect."
