 The driver of the vehicle which hit a Cottonwood school bus, killing four children, is an illegal alien. After days of speculation, federal authorities finally confirmed today that Aliannis Nunez Morales is in this country illegally and has been using an alias.
The woman was arrested yesterday and charged today with four counts of criminal-vehicular homicide, running a stop sign and driving without a license. Morales had been previously arrested in June 2006 and charged with driving without a driver’s license. She was fined $182 and released.
 This terrible tragedy has underscored the fact that there are real costs of allowing illegal aliens to freely roam in the State of Minnesota. Officials must answer some very tough questions that will ultimately allow us to understand what went wrong allowing this tragedy to occur. Questions such as:
- Why was Morales not deported when she was originally arrested in 2006? Was this a situation of "sanctuary city" policies encouraging law enforcement agents to look the other way?
- How was she able to obtain a Minnesota state identification card? How many other illegals have been issued these cards?
- How was Morales able to gain employment at Jennie-O Turkey? Why wasn't her immigration status checked? How many other illegals are working at Jennie-O today?

In 2006, I created a painting of my grandson Hunter, waiting for the bus on his first day of pre-kindergarten. We found it a proud, joyful moment–In his little mind a big yellow space ship with blinking lights was going to ascend from the shadows, pick him up and take him to some alien planet, never to return home. He did return home on the bus and excitedly told a story of his first fun day at school. This painting, proudly displayed in my studio now has an added, unintended meaning–One of sorrow and grief from a haunting vision of parents standing in their driveway, wondering why the bus is late, waiting for their children–Only to find out later, their Hunter, his brother and school mates would never be coming home–Never coming home because of an accident that never should have happened...
The illegal immigrant who killed the four children in the Cottonwood school bus accident should never have been in this country on February 19, 2008. Don't blame seat-belts, school buses or other objects for this senseless tragedy. Don't blame the illegal immigrant. She wouldn't have been here in 2006 to be charged for "driving without a license" had our government enforced the existing immigration laws enacted by president Reagan in 1986. What's worse, this is not an isolated incident. it's occurring all over this nation every day–All for greedy corportations, reaping big profits from low wage immigrant labor, letting taxpayers pay all their expenses medical, schooling, crime etc.
Many of our 2008 election candidates including all presidential candidates want to reward these lawbreakers with a kind of "Pathway to Citizenship"–Which I call "a kind of Amnesty". Who's child will be the next victim? I am sure it will be consoling to know the killer was a citizen–Get real!... May those who didn't enforce the laws before, now have the courage stop the carnage–Send ALL illegal immigrants home-Then provide a way for some to reenter the US in an orderly, lawful manner. Anything else is unacceptable.
My deepest sympathy goes out to the families who must endure the worst of these needless tragedies.
Unless we act–It's only going to get worse. |

Unfortunately it is plain to see. The government majority is not working for those responsible, that pay their taxes and bills w/out government subsidies, they are truly working for those that live off of us. They speak of a"quality of life?" The government is speaking of the "quality of life", we, ourselves worked and paid for, that they, the government is taking away at a rapid pace. Giving our quality of life
paid for at our expense, to those that don't work for their own. They seem to be discouraging people to live independently. They enforce the laws/fines on the taxpayers who appear to be otherwise law abiding, responsible citizens , but let the criminal violators who continue to kill human life, go...at our expense. It's time to stop tolerating the deceit, neglect, incoherency, incompetency and failures of this government majority. They are truly putting us all in harms way.
God bless the injured and deceased that the government majority neglected to protect. |

| I will tell you why nothing will change..who mows your politicians lawns..who does theirl laundry, who watches their kids?? i would bet to say that as companys can hire them cheap so can our affluent people. We are the peons..nothing will ever change |

What's so hard about this? Enforce the law! These people are criminals plain & simple. They chose to deify our laws and expect special treatment. Here's the solution Deportation, one at a time. What happened to the families of this tragedy is unbearable. And now what? The have lost their children, with many others injured ,countless medical, legal, and insurance bills all to be paid by the legal taxpayer on top of it all. How can anyone even think this is ok ? If there is one of you out there that thinks it is ,please explain. Where are our elected officials ? Stand up and listen to the voices of the people who are doing the right thing. What makes any of these illegal’s think they do not have to wait to get citizenship? Is there any wonder why people are so pissed off?
I want someone to take some serious action to stop this nonsense.
