In this taxpayer-funded public service announcement, Obama's Labor Chief Hilda Solis claims that illegal aliens have a right to protection for fair wages under federal law. But the truth is that federal law only pertains to United States citizens.

Re: Obama's Labor Chief Makes Appeal To Illegal Aliens    By Mary on 7/13/2010
Though just technical, the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) does protect any worker in the United States, and anyone can sue them for not getting minimum wage, etc. However, the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) requires, among other things, that employers check all documents of all employees as being able to work in the United States. Anyone legally working is covered under FLSA. If someone got employment through the use of fake documents, they are NOT covered under the NLRA. There have been cases of illegal immigrants suing under this, but once the documentation is shown to be forged, they lose and are usually deported.

Founder's Quote of the Week

"I consider the foundation of the Constitution as laid on this ground that 'all powers not delegated to the United States, by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states or to the people.' To take a single step beyond the boundaries thus specially drawn around the powers of Congress, is to take possession of a boundless field of power, not longer susceptible of any definition." --Thomas Jefferson, Opinion on the Constitutionality of a National Bank, 1791
