The Environmental Protection Agency is about to assume the power to regulate carbon dioxide as a pollutant. The plan has been called “Cap and Pain” because it will create CO2 emissions limits without the often proposed carbon trading scheme that is part of “Cap and Trade” plans.

The EPA’s draconian plans to cap carbon dioxide emissions will have a huge impact on businesses, jobs and the economy unless they are stopped. Senator Murkowski of Alaska has introduced a resolution to stop the EPA’s misguided plans. There is no scientific basis to consider carbon dioxide a pollutant or a hazard to human health, yet despite new scientific predictions of a coming period of cooling, the EPA insists it must regulate CO2 to stop (currently non-existent) global warming.

The Murkowski Resolution is slated for a vote in the Senate on June 10th. The Senate is now in recess until June 7th and Senators are on their way back to their home states.

Senator Al Franken has expressed past concern for the job losses and economic damage that could be caused by cap and trade type schemes. He needs to hear from his constituents now that the EPA plan will be even worse.

Find the office nearest you and pay a visit if at all possible and urge Senator Franken to support the Murkowski Resolution. If you are able, make your visit between noon and 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 3rd for a greater concentration of visitors and a possible impromptu rally.

The EPA's plans to regulate CO2 by itself will create unwarranted economic hardships and make the jobless problem worse. The Murkowski Resolution can stop the EPA from seizing this new regulatory power.

Take Action: Visit one of Senator Frankens local offices on Thursday, June 3rd from noon to 1:00.

Re: Stop the EPA’s Power Grab – Rally Thursday June 3rd    By Kev on 6/2/2010
Senator Franken will do the right thing and support this legislation. Who is the EPA trying to "grab" power from? You? Me? Nope. This is an effort by OUR government to control polluting emissions and the like from corporations. Ask yourself this: If one of these companies were pouring pollutants into your favorite fishing lake, who would you side with... the company and its "rights" to pollute the lake... or the government and its "power grab(ing)" laws that would force the company to clean up the mess the company had created? It could be just me, but I'll side with the hard working people that do not want the lake trashed in the first place.

Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant. It is no threat to human or other life. The EPA finds that CO2 will harm polar bears in the arctic because it's causing global warming, yet scientists are now predicting a new era of global COOLING. Carbon dioxide is what you exhale when you breathe. Should the government be regulating breath?

that's right. Three is nothing to back their claim that hasn't been manipulated to (fraud) (does that say anything?), yet because they're government, their regulations will be endless and intrusive in our private lives.

Mr. McGrath. Climb into a barrel, and I'll pump in carbon dioxide until you're dead which should take about five minutes tops. I of course am engaging in hyperbole here, I intend you no harm. But can republicans not find a single person with an eighth-grade level science education? Human respiration is not And

Mr. McGrath,
Take a cooler full of dry ice, (frozen carbon dioxide), into your bedroom. Tape plastic over the windows, door, and any vents, open the cooler and take a nap. You won't wake up. I'm engaging in hyperbole here, I mean you no harm. But can republicans nowhere find someone with the science education level of an eighth grader? And please name, or provide a link, for the "scientists now predicting a new era of global cooling". Thanks. P.S. Bill Nye the Science Guy has some excellent remedial science programs available cheap.

ease name, or provide a link, for the scientists now predicting va new era of global cooling.

"There is no scientific basis to consider carbon dioxide a pollutant or a hazard to human health, yet despite new scientific predictions of a coming period of cooling, the EPA insists it must regulate CO2 to stop (currently non-existent) global warming."

Idiot! Liar! Traditional values indeed. Considering how often your "idea" there has been destroyed, I'll let you look up the counter arguments. Sorry, you're "counter argument."

I think you've just pissed on the bible, bearing false witness to no end!
