The US Senate is expected to vote on a motion to proceed with their version of the health care bill as soon as Thursday. This procedural motion is the first vote to advance the Senate bill to the floor. It requires 60 votes. Next, it’s open to debate before being placed for final passage. Once on the floor, passage requires only 51 votes. The best opportunity to stop the government takeover of health care is now.
Two procedural motions, each requiring 60 votes stand before the health care bill: The motion to proceed and a cloture vote which is a vote to end debate on the bill. After that, only 51 votes are needed for final passage.
Some Senators may think they can get the bill passed while obscuring their vote for the bill by voting to proceed and voting for cloture but then voting against passing the bill, knowing that it will still pass without their vote. Don’t be fooled. A vote to advance the bill is a vote to pass the bill. Once past the procedural hurdles, final passage is nearly certain.
Take Action: Call Senators Klobuchar and Franken today. There is no time to lose.

| Despite what Harry Reid says about Americans wanting this bill, he is lying by omission - he is omitting the fact that 56% majority of Americans DO NOT want Governmental controlled socialized medicine. That figure of 56% includes MANY Democrats and that majority can keep Klobuchar and Franken from getting re-elected. They need to listen to their constituents - they are charged with the responsibility of voting in favor of the majority opinion of their constituents. |

Healthcare costs rose over 125% in the last decade, incomes went up 38%. Healthcare insurance will be going up another 10% in 2010. According to the CBO, "Obamacare" would reduce the defict. Tens of thousands of people die each year because they have no insurance. The US has the most expensive healthcare costs in the world, yet ranks 37th in quality of healthcare. ------------------------------------------ I'm no kool-aid drinking liberal. I not only studied the issue from both sides of the issue, I looked up documented facts. Plus, I lived without health insurance a few years back, I couldn't afford it. I know what it's like to NOT have healthcare insurance. If a person took the politics out of this issue and looked at real facts instead of half-truths or plain out and out lies, they'd see reform is needed BIG TIME! Who's paying for all the anti-reform resistence? Basically, healthcare insurance companies. They don't want reform, it'd hurt their bottomline. |

| We don't disagree that reforms are needed. The Obamacare plan is the wrong way to go, however. It avoids the core issues that need correcting and applies a massive patchwork of band-aids that basically make the federally created health care monster even bigger. See here for some common sense solutions to the root problems that cause our health care mess. http://www.minnesotamajority.org/TheIssues/HealthCare/tabid/121/Default.aspx |

| Brian, I believe you are mis-informed, Yes we have high health care costs - much to high!!, and we are ranked 37th but that is in our health - the health of Americans ranks 37th in the world, and 29th, and 24th - just depends on what they are ranking. But our health care quality, delivery and response time and availability rates number 2 and number 1 in the world. What you may have mis-understood is the 37th in the world rates the actual health of Americans - and thats related to they type of foods we are eating, the lack of exersice, overweight, smoking , unhealthy choices being made. Those choices lead to higher healthcare costs. We absolutly need reform, reform that looks at those items that increase the cost of our healthcare the most - and addresses what we can do about them to reduce our cost. I believe that tort reform, malpractice, mandates , lack of competition, to name some must be addresses. the "anti-reform resistance" that you refer to are people who are actually reading as much as they can about whats going on and realize that the current plan will not reduce cost and therefore will not reform healthcare. Once this passes - if it does - we will likely find it very difficult to change - maybe impossible. Look at Social Security, medicare, medicaid and all the un-funded debt - Do you think we can get those changed ?? |

You must have read the manipulated version of the "crisis" side. Don't always believe what others have written as facts, as those of authority can easily manipulate, distort, the facts. I don't know who convinced you that people don't want reform. It has to do with SERVICE AND COST GOVERNMENT'S JOB FAILED TO OVERSEE in the first place. We don't need government taking it over or competing against. As government sets needless rules and mandates that makes it unaffordable for people to care for themselves at their own expense. A set-up from the beginning. |
