As immoral as the concept of amnesty for illegals is in the minds of most Americans, Congress is poised to deliver economic stimulus cash into the hands of illegal aliens. Have vote hungry liberal politicians lost their minds?
According to Fox News, "The $146 billion stimulus package intended to jolt the economy by giving taxpayers rebates up to $1,200 includes cash returns for illegal immigrants who pay taxes.
Under the plan passed by the House, illegal immigrants who qualify as “resident aliens” and earned a minimum of $3,000 would be eligible for rebates of between $300-$600.
Only those illegals who have been assigned an Individual Tax Identification Number (TIN) that allows them to file income taxes would be eligible. The basic issue comes down to how the IRS has defined "resident aliens". The IRS defines a resident alien as somone who satifies one of two tests. The "green card" test is used for individuals who are in the United States legally. The problem is with the "substantial presence" test which defines a resident alien as someone who spend a “substantial” amount of time in the U.S. and have not been deported -- illegal aliens. The Center for Immigration Studies issued a white paper entitled "Giving Cover to Illegal Aliens" in 2002 discussing how the IRS is undermining US immigration law by issuing Individual Tax Identification Numbers to illegal aliens.
Tom Tancredo picked up on it here and here. The Politico has picked up on it here. Now some politicians are running around like their hair is on fire trying to figure out "how did THIS happen?" News flash to the politicians... It is called the law of unintended consequences.
You can weigh-in on the issue by contacting your U.S. Senators and asking them to be sure not to adopt the House version of the stimulus package. |

I just don't understand how our country has come to this. Most law-abiding ctizens have been paying our share (and then some) of taxes all our working lives; thus paying into Social Security. And as our reward, when we reach retirement age, we will receive those benefits. So, WHY, after coming to this country, illegally OR legally and not paying any taxes whatsoever, are these aliens allowed to receive Social Security that they NEVER contributed to? I think I know why..........the politicians want all the votes they can get at whatever cost to the American people. So the more they placate these aliens, the more votes they expect to get. And I have recently learned the main reason a politician wants the job in the first place: After serving only one term, no matter what kind of job they do, (good or bad, and it's usually bad), they have voted themselves a $15,000 per month pension to be paid to them for THE REST OF THEIR LIVES! How criminial is that??? Wouldn't most of us want and be entitled to the same? And we pay as many if not more taxes than our politicians do! And they call this a democracy?? Not anymore. So, for this reason alone, I will NEVER vote for any incumbent. All any of our politicians, Senate and/or House of Representatives, have done is to improve their own lives and to heck with the rest of us! Our American freedoms that our military heroes have fought so hard and so long for are rapidly disappearing. So all their sacrifices have been in vain. I feel very badly for all of us who really used to value America and all it used to stand for. Now we are being run by foreigners and aliens, many of whom don't even speak English! May God help us all. |

| It doesn't suprise me at all. But as a family that has paid in $150,000 + in taxes last year it bothers me greatly. My husband puts in 60+ hours per week. There should be no rebates period. Let the market take care of itself. I am definitely not for McCaine and anyone who supports illegal immigration! |

| Please please STOP THE LIES about immigrants! Don't you see that it makes you look foolish when you quote myths as facts? Illegal aliens do NOT get Social Security, period! Illegal immigrants are not eligible for welfare, nor would they risk being deported by fraudulently applying for public benefits. Is it too much to expect some logic or common sense from the anti-immigrant crowd? |

Drew:
Can you provide some advice about how we can best seek AWARENESS and legislative change of the unconstitutional and abusive "family court" and child support system here in Minnesota?
Did you realize the there is absolutely no oversight of the radical feminist / liberal bar / activist judge cabal abusing the rights of fathers on a DAILY basis here?
That the freedoms and incomes of fathers are being seized DAILY in violation of the 4th and 14th amendment due process rights guaranteed by the constitution?
Take a look at Stephen Baskerville's book "Taken into Custody" ASAP.
Yours for CHANGE (of the REAL variety):
Brian Maginnis
